Ferry services to Newcastle- an easy way to get to Hadrian's Wall

If you are planning to visit Hadrian's Wall from Europe, then the ferry from Amsterdam to Newcastle can provide a pleasant alternative to flying, as well as saving the cost of car hire. This ferry will also save a lot of driving (and petrol) compared to using the Channel Tunnel or the cross channel ferries.

The ferry terminal in Newcastle is at Royal Quays, North Shields. This is about 8 miles east of the city centre. The ferry terminal can be reached by a special DFDS Seaways bus from central station. To reach Wallsend directly from here you could get a bus(R19) to Percy Main metro station and then take the metro to Wallsend

At the ferry terminal there is a Cafe, Bureau de Change, Car Park, Bar, Shop, a DFDS Seaways office, Vending Machine and Toilets.

Virtually across the road from the ferry terminal is the Royal Quays Outlet shopping centre. This has over 50 outlets offering large discounts. There are also fast food restaurants and ATM's located here. The shopping centre has several shops selling outdoor gear here.
