The Baltic centre for contemporary Art

The Baltic is housed in a former flour mill overlooking the quayside. The Baltic presents a dynamic, diverse and international programme of contemporary visual art. It has no permanent exhibitions instead it houses ever changing exhibitions and events; these range from blockbuster exhibitions to the works of local artists - check there web site for details. The Baltic has a good bookshop, cafe and restaurant and also great views over the quayside.

The library comprises of a vast collection of royalty-free stock photography as well unique rights-managed images. Travel, food, abstract, landscape, monochrome. The entire collection of pictures is available as framed prints and 10% of print sales will go Marie Curie, Icon Image Library's Charity of the Year, 2011.

The Laing Gallery

New Bridge Street, Newcastle.

Open : Monday to Saturday 10am - 5pm, Sunday 2pm - 5pm

The Laing has a large 18th and 19th century collection and includes dynamic landscapes by John Martin and sculpture by Henry Moore.. The museum also hosts a range of events and activities, many aimed specifically at children.

The Shipley Art Gallery

New Bridge Street, Newcastle.

Open : Monday to Saturday 10am - 5pm, Sunday 2pm - 5pm

Home to one of the most important collection of craft outside London, as well as a spectacular collection of fine art. Highlights include the Blaydon Races by William Irving. You can also try your hand at creating your own mosaic and designing your idea room.

Shipley Lates offer an after hours program of exciting events including designer talks, live music exhibitions and a bar.

The Tullie House has extensive and important collections of Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles. Highlights include a number of Pre-Raphaelite paintings.
